Gravity moulding process should be automated for 2 main reasons.
Firstly the large series of injected moulded parts are leaving Europe for the
Far East countries. The European foundries have to concentrate on
smaller series AND keep their production prices as competitive as
possible.
Secondly manual moulding faces a manpower problem. It is difficult to
convince people to have a physical work in such a harsh environment.
Original solutions have been developed by company ALM to make this
automation as productive as possible.
1. A variable volume dosing system (patented by ALM)
2. Integration in a single enclosure of: The melting oven, a holding
zone under controlled atmosphere and, the dosing system.
3. Development of the proprietary AluShieldTM surface treatment
resistant to aluminum molten metal
4. Integration of all needed techniques (PLC, Touchscreen MMI,
Thermal metrology and controls)
