Correctness and credibility of results of computer simulation of cooling and
solidification process of casting, first of all depends on the appropriate
selection and correct formulation of model’s conditions, among which
initial – boundary conditions are of great importance, because they reflect
kinetics of the heat flow in cast-mould system. Defining geometrical and
physical conditions does not create serious problems. However, the
procedure of selection of boundary conditions has not been convincingly
defined.
In this paper we have attempted to define the procedure of selecting
parameters which describe boundary conditions for modelling heat
processes, through the analysis and comparison of simulation results
gained while using modifications of boundary conditions.
