The significant features of closed cell aluminum foams are their low
density, high energy absorption, etc. These characteristics are affected by
the size of the foams, namely, the smaller the better. Generally, the low
surface tension and the high viscosity of liquid metals can be appropriate
for the production of fine metal foams. Therefore, it is necessary to study
the effect of the viscosity on the stability of the foams. In this paper, the
influence of the viscosity-increasing processes on the stability of the film
was investigated using aqueous solutions. The viscosity increased by the
addition of polyvinyl alcohol and ceramic powders. As a result, the longer
lifetime of the film is found with the addition of good wettable particles than
that of poor particles or polyvinyl alcohol.
