67th World Foundry Congress
Gravity moulding process should be automated for 2 main reasons.
Firstly the large series of injected moulded parts are leaving Europe for the
Far East countries. The European foundries have to concentrate on
smaller series AND keep their production prices as competitive as
possible.
Secondly manual moulding faces a manpower problem. It is difficult to
convince people to have a physical work in such a harsh environment.

New adaptive machining methods for the foundry industry
Peter Dickin
Delcam, UK.
67th World Foundry Congress
Computer-based methods for machining and inspection are well
established in the foundry industry. More recently, these two technologies
have been brought closer together in a new development – adaptive
machining. This approach uses a combination of software, such as
Delcam’s PowerMILL CAM system and PowerINSPECT software, to give
new solutions to a range of challenging manufacturing problems.
The programming of most machining operations ...

New innovative solutions for foundries by inorganic concepts
Jens Müller* and Reinhard Stötzel*
*ASK GmbH, Hilden
67th World Foundry Congress
In today’s core manufacturing, the high-performance cold box systems are
very well established. However, they are confronted with increasing
demands regarding lower smell and reduced emissions, especially in
aluminium die casting. ASK develops a solution to these problems with
INOTEC, a new inorganic binder system which is based on consequent
and detailed investigations of inorganic principles. Even in demanding
brass casting, a serial p...
